Is department store makeup really any better than drugstore makeup?

I may be wrong, but it seems to me like most of the people that buy high end brands only buy them because they’re high end. The quality doesn’t seem to be different, the ingredients are the same, so it all revolves around the status symbol of taking out MAC lipstick in public as opposed to Revlon. As if it somehow makes you better or more sophisticated.

However, I admit I’ve never tried a high end makeup brand, as I can’t afford it right now. So I ask all of you — is there honestly a difference in quality? Or is it all about consumerism and the urge to have something designer instead of something bought at a local store?

Make up is make up. Only the names and prices change. The same as designer name jeans.
