Best straight iron?

I need a new straight iron. The first one I owned was a Revlon tourmaline model, though I blew that one out overseas; the one I have now is a Hot Tools Professional Tourmaline 1″ model, which I liked, but the edges became rough and now it has an electrical short where it has to set at a certain angle to turn on, so I need to get another one, 1″ and was wondering what is a really good one. I was thinking a Chi model, but reading about it doesn’t seem much different from a ceramic straightener I could get for a fraction of the cost. So basically what I am looking for is one that utilizes both the ceramic and tourmaline technologies that has temperature setting to the degree and will cause the least amount of damage to coursely textured hair.

I have a chi…i love it and would recommend it. it comes with a life time guarentee so yes it costs a little bit of money but it will last you the rest of your life. i have been using it for 2 years and it doesn’t damage my hair. if you are worried about the heat on your hair there are products out there to spray in your hair that helps protect it.
