Revlon Crimping Iron

HELP PLEASE!!!! curling hair?

This is a repost.
So i bought this revlon curling iron awhile back but every time i try to curl my hair with it, it gets a crimp near the bottom. its kind of hard to explain but basically its like a strange bump. so today i bought a conair one and its doing the same thing! i’m thinking im doing something wrong, so i was hoping someone could tell me what exactly that is. I open the clip on the curling iron and then clamp it on my hair and move it down, kind of like im straitening it. Then i twist it towards my face and hold it there for 15 seconds. Then I un clamp it and pull the iron down. What am i doing wrong?

20- thin fine hair
25- thick easy to curl hair.

DO NOT CURL WHEN WET. (:

The curl your hear with about half an inch strands curl up, inside, hold for 6-7 seconds curl down. Wait 2-3 seconds, curl outside, hold for 6-7 seconds. —new strand of hair—
