is it rude not to want makeup help?

haha, make all the jokes you want : )I am a regular at the makeup counter, at my local macy’s and I almost always make a purchase. As a result, I am recognized by the makeup assistants. However, some of them take it personally that i will not let them do my makeup- when I try the testers, I ask to do my own application.

I have been doing my own makeup for 10 yrs+ and have been offered jobs from Clinique to MAC at the several in SoCAL Macy’s. I know my face and what looks good on it, better than someone who has seen me on and off, a every few weeks ofr the past few months.

Plus, I just dont like strangers touching my face. But am I being mean, if I say politely, “No, thank you.” ? In CA, the B.As are very cool with it, but out in this small PA town, where I go to school, the B.As are so weird about it.

I’m the same way you are… I have my own style of makeup and I don’t want to wear it the way someone else wants. I love to buy it, but I don’t want to try it on.

And even if I did, I always go out plastered with 10 pounds of makeup that I wouldn’t want removed or modified for the sake of the purchase.

I imagine, especially in the small town, that the makeup assistants work on commission and think that you might buy more (and they’d earn more) if they could try something new on you and sell it to you. While I can see where they’re coming from, it’s really a bad idea, especially since you’ve always been such a great customer.
